Does L-Lysine cure feline herpesvirus?
There is no cure for FHV-1, as the virus remains latent for life. L-lysine competes with the arginine the virus needs to replicate, reducing the frequency and intensity of outbreaks.
How long should it be given?
For cats with FHV-1, long-term continuous use is recommended. During acute outbreaks, some vets recommend temporarily increasing the dose. Always consult your vet.
Does it have a flavour? Do cats accept it?
Pure L-lysine has a neutral to slightly salty taste that most cats accept well when mixed with wet food.
Is it suitable for dogs?
No. This product is formulated specifically for cats. For dogs, please check other supplements from the Vittalogy Pets range.
